"The 2022 Midterms: What Just Happened?"
An analysis of national midterm election data.
About the Speaker: Boris Shor is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Houston. His research interests include state legislatures, political polarization, representation, and health policy. Using roll call voting data and candidate survey responses, he co-created the data project on state legislative ideology and polarization, containing estimates of ideological positions of more than 25,000 individual legislators in all 50 states across the past two decades. He has been awarded major grants from the National Science Foundation, the Russell Sage Foundation, and Arnold Ventures. He is the co-author of Red State, Blue State, Rich State, Poor State (Princeton University Press), and is currently working on a new book about the politics of health policy in the states. He has published work in the American Political Science Review, the American Journal of Political Science, American Politics Research, the State Politics and Policy Quarterly, Political Analysis, and the Quarterly Journal of Political Science. He has taught undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students throughout his career. He has been a Robert Wood Johnson Scholar in Health Policy at UC Berkeley, and a fellow at the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics at Princeton University. He has a Political Science PhD and MA from Columbia University, and an AB from Princeton University.
